What a difference a bottle makes. Double decanted in the morning, served from bottle with dinner. Tar, smoke, cinnamon and menthol on the nose, more like a northern Rhone. On the palate, green spice, licorice, currants, leather, blackberry and plum. This was a big-bodied wine with lots of tannins and acidity. It drank very young and I am glad I opened it in the morning. One of the better showings of this wine that I have had. The history of chateau（酒庄历史）： Châ；teau Pichon Baron was once part of a larger estate, owned by Pierre de Rauzan, along with Châ；teau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande. In 1850 the estate was divided into the two current Pichon estates. In 1987 the estate was purchased by French insurance company AXA, who immediately appointed Jean-Michel Cazes of Châ；teau Lynch-Bages as administrator.

Beautiful Bdx drinking at its peak. Sweet dark fruit, smoke, earth, vanilla, cedar. Silky and elegant. Tannins almost fully resolved. Became a touch disjointed toward the end of the evening so Id say drink up over the next few years.
